And the best thing is, these folks (folks is a great gender neutral term, by the way) aren’t trying to be every gender fluid person. So when someone speaks on these issues or represents them such as Ruby Rose, Asia Kate Dillon, and now Bex Taylor Klaus, I’m happy to see a little more of who I am out in the world. I’ve spoken on how I feel I don’t get to see myself represented on screen or in the media often. The same thing happened when I learned Ruby Rose identified as gender fluid, or about Asia Kate Dillon’s role on the TV show “Billions.” There are so few representatives in the media for gender non conforming people that sometimes I forget that there are any at all. One quote in particular stood out to me as it’s something I relate to very deeply: “At the end of the day it’s more fun to be comfortable.” Each time I learn about a figure in the media who identifies as gender fluid, queer, or non binary, I get this big smile on my face. Then immediately after, they posted a link to the article ( which you can read here) which said how Bex uses, “both she and they pronouns.” While not an exact mirror for how I represent, it was still impactful having a figure whose work I admire speak about these things. ![]() I was already pretty floored because the actor - who I have been a fan of since their first appearance of “Arrow” - reblogged one of my random gender fluid things about how I related to Pidge (their character on “Voltron”) even more since embracing my gender identity.
